I've tabulated and graphed some data about the costs of
Yeshiva elementary schools in the Teaneck area. A few points:
- The displayed numbers are total actual costs, after all mandatory fees, mandatory contributions, etc.
- The tables and figures represent the costs associated with the schools, if tuition freezes at current amounts. (I do not have data on past increases, and don't want to extrapolate forward.)
- Although all the schools are supposedly priced the same, RYNJ is consistently cheaper by around $1500-$2700 per kid.
- This graph shows the percentage of the total actual cost made up by fees, mandatory contributions., etc. Click for full size.
Results were calculated using the latest tuition and
fees
schedules from
the schools ('10-'11 school year) [source]. They assume
a
birth rate of 1 kid every other year for a maximum of 3 kids, with all
kids attending the same school starting in kindergarden. They
furthermore assume no
scrip
purchased, and Moriah's distributed building fund schedule.
BPY's fee schedule
only goes up to 5th grade; kids graduate after 5th grade in this
model. This
only represents the costs of elementary school, not high school.
I can easily create these results for any combination of family size,
birth rate, etc. (I'm working on an interactive web-based
tool to
generate these results. If anyone talented or knowledgeable in
Java/Flash/Etc. would like to work with me on web-embeddable
demontrations, please contact
me!)
